Synchronizing Nodes

Before synchronizing nodes on a SummitStack, confirm that all nodes are active nodes and running ExtremeXOS 12.0 or later, so as to support the synchronize command.

On a SummitStack with redundancy, you can take the primary node configurations and images and replicate them on the backup node using the save configuration command.

Caution

Caution

During a synchronization on a SummitStack, the active stack briefly alternates between a ring and daisy-chain topology. When the primary node finishes replicating its configurations and images to the backup node, the full the stack ring is restored.

In addition to replicating the configuration settings and images, this command also replicates which configuration or image the node should use on subsequent reboots. This command does not replicate the run-time configuration. You must use the save configuration {primary | secondary | existing-config | new-config} command to store the run-time configuration first.

On a SummitStack, you can synchronize an active node in the stack with the primary or non-primary slots using the following command:

synchronize {slot slotid} {file_name}
Note

Note

You cannot synchronize a master switch running a version earlier than ExtremeXOS 22.2 to a target node running ExtremeXOS 22.2 or later. The command fails and the following error message appears: Error: the target slot's partitions are not compatible with the Master's for synchronize.
